THUNE

I thought I'd started with the youngest first and work my way up. This would be Beth Roseann Solomon. Now you all might know her by that name, but with us sisters, she has a number of names. Most commonly, THUNE. Now this name has, on occasion, been picked up by the rest of my family, but it went through a complex evolution as follows:

Beth > Bethy > Bethuney > Thunelope (like Penelope) >THUNE

(and here it has remained for many years and many years to come.)

Then there is her most current name by which she is called (okay, it's true mostly by Mirm, then me) POO-POO. Now please believe me when I say this is in NO way derogatory or offensive. It's just her name. Ask her. ;) Alright, so in the beginning there was Charis, then me, next Mirm, and finally...Poo-poo. She was always tired of being the youngest and the "baby" of the family, so her little mind worked up a perfectly good solution to this problem. It went like this:

"Well when I grow up, I'll be older than you, so there!"

Ahh...poor Thune. Either she's not grown up yet, or else her little threat of overpowering us was nothing but an unfulfilled dream. tee hee! :)

Speaking of overpowering, however, you might all have heard the story of how Poo-poo totally dominated me in an all-out wedgie fest at CHURCH, and ended the little altercation by promptly snapping my left index finger like it was nothing more than a lil' ol' Q-tip. (I had to get an x-ray and wear a finger brace for the next month!) Honestly, Beth! We were at CHURCH!! *tsk*tsk*tsk! ;)

Thune is the artsy one who shares my love of reading (i'm still waiting for the next L. Austin, Beth, so hurry up, buy it already, and let me have a turn! sheesh!) ;). She also enjoys taking pictures, listening to music, and hanging out with her friends and family. Her heart is so in love with God and she is an inspiration to all who know her. Beth is as independant as the rest of us girls, so when she makes up her own mind....she goes with it.

Poo-Poo, I'm so proud of you and I pity all the poor fellows at Calvin (minus one...;) who are going to lose their hearts to you! I LOVE YOU!

SISTERS

My family has often watched the holiday classic, "White Christmas," together and we always end up laughing and singing along with the "Sisters Song!" We always found it humorous and would tease each other about it! If you don't know what I'm talking about, the lyrics are as follows:

Sisters, sisters
There were never such devoted sisters
Never had to have a chaperone, no sir
I'm here to keep my eye on her

Caring, sharing
Every little thing that we are wearing
When a certain gentleman arrived from Rome
She wore the dress and I stayed home

All kinds of weather we stick together
The same in the rain or sun
Two different faces but in tight places
We think and we act as one, ha-ha-ha-ha

Those who've seen us
Know that not a thing can come between us
Many men have tried to split us up but no one can
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister
And lord help the sister who comes between me and my man

All kinds of weather we stick together
The same in the rain or sun
Two different faces but in tight places
We think and we act as one, ah-ha

Those who've seen us
Know that not a thing could come between us
Many men have tried to split us up but no one can
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister
And lord help the sister who comes between me and my man

Sisters! Sisters!
Sister, don't come between me and my man!

Anyway, what I want to say is that the three best gifts my parents ever gave me were my sisters, Charis, Miriam, and Beth. So the next few blog entries will be "dedicated" one to each of these three priceless women of God who have influenced my life in so many FABULOUS ways!

So stay tuned, because you may find out some very interesting....(some might even say "embarassing") facts about them! (No, no, girls, just kidding. Like I would ever want to embarass any of you.....;) Haha! I love you ladies SO much!
